Congratulations to our first MEng student, Chinmay Kapoor on successfully defending his non-thesis project and completing his degree!
Chinmay has shown exceptional dedication and hard work throughout his time at the University of Victoria, particularly on the FUSST project (Forecasting using Spatio-Temporal Transformer). His research on long-term time series forecasting of marine conditions for sustainable blue carbon ecosystems has been truly groundbreaking. This work was part of a National Research Council Canada / Conseil National de Recherches Canada-funded project. Thanks so much, Dr. Mihai SIMA, Dr. Mohammad Mamun, and Dr. Issa Traore for your guidance.
Beyond his project work, Chinmay’s achievements include publishing a paper in Springer Nature Group and submitting a second paper to IEEE Access contributing valuable insights to the field of machine learning and environmental sustainability. He has also successfully secured a job in the Swiss Vault.
